What are the side effects?
Slight reddening and local swelling of the skin, similar to sunburn, may occur in some patients. These effects typically last 24 hours or less. In rare instances, blistering may occur. Consult with your medical professional for complete information on the benefits and risks of treatment.

Does skin color make a difference?
With CoolGlides's unique design we have the flexibility to treat all skin types. Now even suntanned patients or those with darker pigmentation may be treated. Patients with fair skin respond the best.

How many treatments are required?
The number of treatments you may require for optimal long-term benefits depend on the area you wish to have treated, the hair density and your hair growth cycle. Your hair grows in cycles and many factors influence its growth. Age, ethnicity, weight, hormones, diet, medication and metabolism all play a part in your hair's location, thickness and resilience.

Are there any restrictions on my activity after treatment?
After your treatment, the area is cleaned and you can return to your normal activities immediately. Your physician may recommend that you use a specially formulated skin care product line or prescribe a skin care regimen especially formulated for your skin type. The use of sun screen is recommended on any treated areas exposed to the sun. As always, it is a good idea to limit your sun exposure.

How does the CoolGlide laser treatment compare with other hair removal methods?
Shaving, waxing and depilatory creams provide temporary results. The treatment must be repeated on a frequent basis. Electrolysis often also requires years of treatments at regular intervals. The CoolGlide treatment delivers non-invasive laser light energy to hundreds of hair follicles at one time. In just a few minutes the CoolGlide treatment can effectively treat an area that would take over an hour with electrolysis.

How does the CoolGlide hair removal work?
The CoolGlide generates intense, long pulse Nd: YAG light through a hand piece, which effectively disables unwanted pigmented hair follicles, impairing their growth. The laser's cool hand piece is placed gently on the skin and glides along as pulses of light are delivered from the laser. When the light penetrates the skin, it selectively damages the root of unwanted hair.

Is laser treatment safe?
Lasers have been in existence for more than thirty-five years and used by a wide range of medical specialists. Since only light is used to remove hair it is totally non-invasive, therefore it does not cause some of the irritation typically found with other hair removal methods.

What are the CoolGlide laser treatment like?
The CoolGlide hand piece, as the name implies, cools and soothes the skin as it glides along. When the light pulse is delivered, some patients experience a mild stinging or pinching sensation. No local anesthesia or pain medication is usually required. Some patients prefer a topical anesthetic when sensitive areas are being treated.

Is laser hair removal long lasting?
Recently released 12-month data indicates the results are both safe and long lasting. Treatment results may vary among patients. For some, this may mean a significant decrease in the frequency with which you must shave or pluck. For others, it may mean permanent cosmetic improvement because hair re-growth is minimal, very fine or completely absent. Everyone gets some re-growth with time regardless of the technology used. Hair that grows back will tend to be much finer and less concentrated.

Results-What should you expect?
There is often no immediate changes. Your skin may get slightly red or even develop a small crust that will peel. The laser may leave small red marks on your skin. The marks clear up in a few days. The hair that has been destroyed will not start to fall out for 2-3 weeks. Many times it will get darker and thicker just before it falls out. Don't worry if you do not see an obvious change immediately after your first treatment.

How long do the treatments take?
An upper lip and chin can be done in 5 to 10 minutes. Underarms or bikini lines take 15 to 20 minutes. Legs and backs take longer. Very often, follow-up treatments are shorter (and less expensive) because there is less hair to treat.

How many treatments are necessary?
This is very important to understand. Hair grows through 3 phases of development. It will only respond to the treatment in one phase called the anagen phase. At any given time, only one third of human hair is in the anagen stage. For this reason, it is necessary to treat an area at least 3 times with the treatment spaced 6 weeks apart in order to see the best and longest lasting results. Darker hair will respond better but both darker and lighter hair may need up to 5 treatments for maximum response  and the best long-term results.

Are there any side effects?
Short-term side effects include slight reddening of the skin or local swelling. These effects typically are transient.

Are there any conditions not suitable for CoolGlide hair removal or does skin color make a difference?
CoolGlide laser has an advantage over other laser hair removal systems because it allows treatment of a wider range of skin types. Patients with fair skin respond best, however suntanned or darker pigment patients may also be treated effectively and safely.

What is the cost of a CoolGlide laser hair removal treatment?
Price will vary depending upon area of treatment and specific approach that will be used. A consultation with the certified laser technician is the best and only way to determine how many treatments will be required and cost of treatments.
